Information for language assistants

Talvinder’s experience

«Hi, I am Talvinder, English language assistant. I would like to share my experience as assistant teacher at IES Murgi and the place i am living in «El ejido, Almería». Well, i started as auxiliary in 2021 and i really enjoyed the time at IES Murgi because of many reasons like teachers in the institute are super nice, generous and easy to be coordinated. Also the students are well behaved, easy to mingle and interested to partake in the cultural activities. Though, sometimes it’s difficult to get participation from all the students but in general we coordinated well.

Throughout the time of this program, I have got the opportunity to prepare various activities like presentation, cultural activities, distinctive conversation classes in English and also i accompanied students on their excursion so we could have a better bond between teacher and students so they speak more freely instead of feeling shy and for making this transition easy I have got all the support from my colleagues whenever It was needed.
El Ejido, is a peaceful town and also very close to some beautiful beaches. As a Pacifist I had really good experience living in El ejido and also the town has almost everything like supermarkets, clinic and hospital, big shopping centre, movie theatre and the best part is people are extremely helpful here.
IES Murgi is a big family and I’m grateful that I was welcomed to be a part of it with all warmth and love. It has been my pleasure working here and I am sure that whosoever works here, will surely have a great experience.«

Daja’s experience

« Working at I.E.S Murgi has been a rewarding and enriching experience. Everyday I get to work with engaging students and a kind work staff. The best part of this experience has been the on-going cultural exchanges. I help to improve the student’s English skills and inform them of American culture, while also  being immersed in Spanish culture; from the food, to the language and even cultural practices. The cultural  exchanges have brought the students, the staff and myself much joy and laughter. For example, it was of much of my surprise and amusement to see that the students didn’t know how to play basketball. In the U.S., almost everyone grows up knowing how to play. From this one sport, I was able to see how Spain and the U.S. differed in their most  popular sport, as well as, using my knowledge of basketball to help the students improve their skills. Overall,  this has been an insightful and enjoyable experience working at I.E.S Murgi.

Sincerely,
Daja Douglas«
